The Project “Mom, I See War” Was Presented in Seoul at the Exhibition of Ukrainian Children’s Drawings “Children Who Draw Hope.”

August 2, 2024

On May 1, 2024, in Seoul, Republic of Korea, at the Chunchugwan Hall of the Cheong Wa Dae complex, an exhibition of drawings created by children during the war in Ukraine, titled “Children Who Draw Hope,” opened. The exhibition featured 250 children’s works from four Ukrainian children’s art projects: “Art Armor Kids,” “Mom, I See War,” “For God I Create the Best,” and “Future for Ukraine.”

“This exhibition is not just a display of children’s drawings; it is a wonderful project of intercultural cooperation that showcases the bravery of our children who find hope during the war. Each of the 250 drawings presented here speaks more than words, and we strive for the whole world to hear these children’s voices. It is very valuable that drawings from the ‘Mom, I See War’ project collection are shown in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, where not long ago children were also witnesses to war. For us, this is an opportunity to remind the world once again that children should not be witnesses to war,” said Danilo Tsvok, co-initiator of the “Mom, I See War” project.

The idea of the exhibition was born during a meeting between the First Ladies of Ukraine and the Republic of Korea, Olena Zelenska and Mrs. Kim Keon Hee, in July 2023, when the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, visited Kyiv. The realization of the exhibition project became possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, the Cheongwadae Foundation, and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

The drawings for the exhibition were provided by four projects, including “Mom, I See War,” which has collected the world’s largest collection of children’s drawings about war — over 15,000 children’s works from various parts of Ukraine and the world. The collection is constantly being updated, and anyone can upload children’s drawings to the platform.

The children’s works can be viewed on the official project platforms: the website, digital museum, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
